Not activated charcoal

The FRAM cabin air filters are impregnated with baking soda. Others have recommended activated charcoal as a more effective material, but this filter does NOT use activated charcoal. When installing, be careful not to rap the filter against the housing, some of the baking soda can flake off.

VERY Poorly made

This filter was very poorly made. There was not enough adhesive applied when it was fabricated to hold the pleated section to the heavy felt frame at the top and bottom. The filter actually fell apart when I tried to install it. I was able to reassemble it using spray adhesives, but I have no confidence that it was rigid enough to fill the filter space adequately when inserted into the housing. If you purchase one of these open it at the store and flex it a few times before leaving the store with it.
