A classic from my youth

A classic from my youth. The title is occasionally used in news articles for someone whose day isn't going well, The illustrations are excellent and rich. I bought this and other books from my youth to give my son on the occasion of the birth of my grandson.

Hilarious and deeply relatable children's book

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is a hilarious and deeply relatable children's book that perfectly captures what it feels like when everything goes wrong. From the moment Alexander wakes up with gum in his hair, his day spirals into one unlucky disaster after another—missing out on treats, dealing with unfair siblings, and facing one frustration after the next. What makes this story so charming is how honest it is. Alexander's complaints feel dramatic in the way only a kid's problems can, but they're also completely understandable. Readers of all ages can recognize that helpless feeling of having a day where nothing seems to go your way. Judith Viorst's writing is simple, funny, and packed with small details that make Alexander's misery entertaining rather than sad. The book also offers a comforting message without being preachy: bad days happen to everyone, and sometimes you just have to get through them. Alexander's final conclusion—that maybe he should move to Australia—is both humorous and realistic, showing how kids try to make sense of disappointment. With its engaging storytelling and expressive illustrations by Ray Cruz, this book is an excellent choice for children learning to manage emotions and understand that frustration is normal. It's a classic for a reason—funny, thoughtful, and perfect for story time.

it is so hard to find books for boys age 7 to 10. this is a great book for boys and girls one that we can all relate to because we've all had terrible days. it's how you react to them and looking at the bright side that makes it bearable. I read this to my children, and now to my grandchildren. always relevant, love this book
