After dropping the last two letters from her first name, Trin-i-tee 5:7 member Chanel Haynes temporarily departs from creative partner Angel Taylor for her debut solo set (released prior to Taylor's own solo bow). On Trin-i-tee 5:7: According to Chanel, the singer shows she's capable of carrying an album on her own with ideas and energy to spare. Produced with Darion Dorsey and released on her Obsidian label, it's more stylistically broad than 2011's Angel & Chanelle, as it mixes traditional and contemporary gospel sounds with more pop-oriented material, modern R&B, and even a club number. Longtime Trin-i-tee fans might not care for the new directions, but the majority of the album should appeal to them, and Chanel never oversteps. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
