LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!

For those of you who are hesitant, I would definitely take the plunge. Disney Infinity, in any version, is amazing. My daughter loves it. She can spend hours building in the toy box and the preloaded games/toy box worlds are so much fun! They're a great bonus. It's true that the extras such as characters and power discs can get expensive but they're beautifully done and it's great to see them come to life. If there's a specific character that your kid likes, I'd definitely splurge on it. Otherwise the characters included in the starter set are still fun. Another note would be that having two characters from a specific movie/show will allow for more game play by opening up a particular stage/level that only they can play in. This gives you a lot more options and really makes the game worth it.

worth upgrading

I was pretty upset to see that less than a year after we got the Disney Infinity game system there was already an upgraded version that was necessary to purchase if my kids were to get the "new" characters. However, Walmart's deal ($10 gift card with purchase) eased the pain of purchasing Disney Infinity 2.0 and the kids LOVE it. The 1.0 characters can be used and they say that the worlds are even better than before. Plus the 2.0 characters are totally awesome for them. A great birthday or holiday gift.

Kids loved it!

we purchased both the Disney originals and Marvel starter kits during a great on-line promotion. We had a brief chance to play with them Christmas morning before we had to get ready to go visit family. During that time, both my daughters were playing and we had to pry them away from the TV. Granted, we had maybe an hour to be exposed to this, but during that time it's very obvious that the scope and scale of what can be done in these worlds appears to be nearly endless. The game play is very kid friendly, the graphics are nicely done, the in-game characters look like they toys, and there are ton of things to do, both in the game "worlds" and in the "Sand box". We also purchased some random power disks sets, and each of these add additional features to the game and to the characters. Being a fan of both Marvel and Disney, I'm glad we have this and can't wait to play with the kids.
