Split about two cord wood. Worked well. The blade did not bend after a while like other axe's I have used. You must be careful with the shorter Handel while splitting. however as I am using to back pack camp I find the length perfect

United Cutlery Black Legion Long Axe

For what it is, and for the price, I'm going to give this 5 stars. The thing to remember, however, is that contrary to the name, this is a short, camp axe, similar to the Estwing Camp Axe at twice the price. This axe, at 28 inches long, is much more dangerous than a full length (35") axe. WATCH YOUR FEET! IF your careful, this is a great axe.
