Very useful.
We have several of these. They are great not only for Christmas tree lighting, but also to make it easier to turn tall floor lamps on and off. My only dislike is that the switch is too close to the two-prong plug. It should be closer two the end with the receptacles (maybe about half way). Also the total length should be a little bit shorter. Don't really need 9ft.

This works perfectly for the white Christmas lights that I have in my room. The outlet is next to my bed, and the switch is about 3 feet away from the plug, so the switch is right next to me when I go to bed. And it's long enough to reach the lights, which are diagonal from the outlet. I've had it for about a month and I use it almost every day. So far, a great purchase!
