Lowrance FishHunter 3D - Portable Fishfinder Connects via WiFi to iOS and Android Devices

Great portable unit that works extremely well in multiple situations The app is easy to download and use. I have the app on my iPhone and iPad, and although I prefer using my iPad because of my aging vision, the display and features are easy enough to use on the smaller iPhone, so it wasn't a problem for me to do so. First use was to verify depth and check features of a small neighborhood pond. The Home Owners Association thought the pond was deeper than it actually is, so I walked the bank, verifying the depths. I was able to show them that the pond is not as deep as originally thought, and that the bottom is relatively featureless and baren of any structure / vegetation. This will help them in their decisions to dredge the pond, add features, and eventually stock it. I wanted to verify the accuracy of the depth readings, so I took it out on my bass boat and verified it against an HDS-9 Carbon. The readings are accurate. It works extremely well when towed alongside or behind the boat (better behind) at a speed of 1mph. Depth changes are rapidly displayed, and it easily detects and displays quick drop offs. I knew where there was one very sudden drop off – like a shelf – so I wanted to verify it against that known area, and it did not disappoint. Easy to toss underhand like a softball, although the included leash was a bit short for the distances I wanted to throw to, so I added a longer leash to the kit before departing home. The included leash should accommodate most anglers using it from the shoreline, and it can be attached to braided line and cast for more distance. I found it was easier to cast with heavier spinning gear, as it loaded up a bit heavy and the line didn't flow through the guides easily when using a 7” MH bass fishing baitcast setup with micro-guides. I could still cast it, but I could get more distance using the heavier spinning setup. This is going to make a great addition to my little Pelican Bass Raider's tool kit as well. There are some weed beds that look like there is deeper water on the back-side that I plan on checking out with it. Overall, a great product that is fun and easy to use – from the shore, small boat, or larger vessel – there are multiple uses for this Lowrance portable sonar.

I purchased the items for gifts. One for my son and the other for a grandson. I think they will be a hit for both as they love to fish.
