I did have an electrician come to my house to do it, but it only took him about an hour. The light itself is covered by a black metal shade. It's minimal, but fits with any decor. The light cord that hangs from the fixture is a paracord material. And that's the one thing I didn't like about it. If this was a chain, I feel like it would hang straighter and work with gravity. The paracord material has a wire built in that doesn't hang quite straight. For the most part, it does not bother me, but if you look at it closely, despite my best attempts, it does have a bit of a crooked lean to it. I really liked how long of a paracord it has. It's adjustable so if you want a longer cord, it's easy enough to adjust it. It's very customizable to your personal home decor. That being said, the design itself is beautiful and the simplicity makes other decor in your home the star. The light is bright and acts like a spotlight. Overall, I'm quite happy with it and would buy it again.

It was rather easy to install, everything necessary was included. Took only a few minutes. You can adjust the length of the hanging cord. It also includes a 60watt lightbulb. The light that it casts is perfect for my kitchen. The black matte finish matches nicely with my other lighting fixtures. The light itself is metal, while the hanging cord, is a braided cable.
