    Good Camera But Needs Improvement
    7/21/2016

    Customer review by LAShopper007

I purchased this camera a little over a year ago, brand new from my local Walmart store. This is my first Nikon product ever and I purchased it because I heard that Nikon was a good brand. Initially, I was impressed with the product. Camera was easy to set-up with intuitive controls. The camera lens is a good general purpose glass. Pictures are amazing and much better than my previous Canon Powershot non-DSLR camera. I use this Nikon camera daily for eCommerce product photography. However, there are a couple of things that need improvement. The manual white balance setting process is very touchy and oftentimes I get an error messages when trying to take acquire a white photo to use as a reference for the custom white balance. The other problem is that the rubber grip has already started to peel off, as shown in the photo. I take really good care of my camera and literally baby it. I would have expected this $500+ Nikon product to hold up better. My old Canon Powershot actually held up for several years with heavy use, without hardly and wear. If I had to do it all over again, I probably would not purchase this particular camera. I would definitely not recommend this camera to people that need to rely on a daily use camera, as this camera is literally falling part on me within a short period of time. I can probably glue the grip back on but its not the kind of quality I would expected from a renowned brand like Nikon. I'm sticking to Canon as their cameras seem more solid and hold up so much better. Hope this review helps others that may be considering purchasing this camera.

If the lighting is too dark or too bright to accurately measure white balance then the D3300 will display a message to let you know. In these situations please adjust the lighting and try again. Please contact Nikon Support regarding the problem that you have encountered with your grips.

Right out of the box, it's easy to take pictures in auto mode. After learning how to fully take advantage of manual mode, it's a lot of fun to use. It's not had any problems so far. The battery seems to last a while if you're using the viewfinder and just snapping stills. Overall great experience!

    Amazing Beginner Camera!

This camera is great for average pictures, however after becoming a more advanced photographer it becomes less handy. I used this camera for two years but am now deciding to upgrade to something more advanced. If you are a beginner photographer this camera is amazing, it's easy to navigate and is very fast. The downfalls are that the ISO slightly dulls intense lighting as well as blurs dark lighting, wildlife photos are often out of focus, and the live view function is very slow. However, if you are just starting out in the wonderful world of photography, then this camera is worth a shot. I recommend buying used from Adorama for a low bugdet. I am 58 years old and have been interested in purchasing a quality camera at a reasonable price. Photography has been a growing passion for me over the years and I wanted to take the step to an SLR. I was worried a little bit that I wouldn't be able to learn the technicalities of the Nikon D3300, but, I was happy to see that learning this camera with it's easy-to-understand user handbook AND guide that is accessable from the camera., I have been using it for about a month now and am extremely happy with the quality feel of the camera and the crystal clear photos and movies it takes, unless you have already stepped up to spending thousands on your camera, you can't go wrong with getting your professional start right here.

The D 3300 is as good as buy as your going to get. I haven't owned it that long, but so far it has been very good. The smaller and lighter body is a big plus. So many people buy expensive cameras and lenses and complain they are too heavy to lug around. This is where the Nikon D3300 has the advantage over other cameras. Remember the best camera in the world is the one you have with you.

I laugh each time I see this camera referred to as an 'Introductuctory-level SLR camera'. This powerhouse beauty has much more than I'd ever need for camera/video. I downloaded a 'Nikon D3300 for Dummies' e-book from Amazon to walk me through the mandatory and optional settings - highly recommend - although you can pull this camera out of the box (after battery is charged and you add an SD card) and use it immediately in Automatic mode. The extra included 55mm lens is perfect for the across-field sports shots I was looking for. This set does *not include a few things that you should be aware of; 1) UV filter to keep the 55mm lens safe. Only $7 from Amazon and in case of an accident, you'll be happy for a crack in this low-cost filter rather than the expensive 55mm lens, 2) No camera case. Seems simple to get one but consider if your 55mm lens is on how deep or wide your bag would need to be. I spent hours trying to find a suitable, smaller, non-black camera bag - and am still looking, 3) No AA or AAA batteries needed. There is a larger battery pack (included & with charger) in this set so no need for your Duracells. In summary, the video and photo quality on this D3300 is amazing and the features outpace it's younger sister D3200 quite a bit for just a small amount more!! Oh, and in red, it's a bit of a showstopper.

I have owned the D3300 for about 18 months and its a very good camera. I’m an older person who takes pictures of things that tend to stand still (landscape, nature, abstract). I’ve spent years using a film SLR and grudgingly moved onto digital a few years ago. I was looking for a simple, not flashy, relatively inexpensive DSLR and I must say that the D3300 certainly fills the bill. In fact, I have recently moved up to the D7200 because I found the D3300 to be too simple…too many changes need to be made via menus rather that knobs or buttons (like on the good old film SLR’s). (I considered getting a D5500 but it just didn’t feel very good in my hands.) But the actual performance results of the camera are very, very good. The only concern that I experienced was the 18-55 kit lens. The lens always just seemed to deliver softer results than I was used to. But when I moved up to the D7200 I also added the Nikon 35/1.8 DX lens. Much better!!! I ‘geeked out’ by testing both lenses on both cameras and found the fixed lens to perform better on both cameras. So my suggestion to anyone who is seriously considering the D3300, go ahead and get one. But also add the 35/1.8 DX lens. I don’t see how you would be disappointed by this combination. I’ll be keeping the D3300 to take on hikes here in the Sierras and using the D7200 for everything else.

I have now owned this camera since November 2015. I can't believe how amazing it has been. The image quality and the ease of use is just amazing!(learning curve was small) The automatic mode is good but the manual mode allows for you to control your photos. I enjoy having the ability to shoot NEF(RAW) instead of JPG. I bought it with the 18-55mm kit lens and since then have purchased the 55-200mm lens and just a week ago the 50mm f1.8 prime lens. I have taken over 4000 pictures in that time. Have not been let down by this camera yet. If you are thinking about getting an entry level camera, first I recommend a DSLR and if cost is important, the D3300 is for you. Now, I'm thinking what lens do I want next!

THIS CAMERA IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!! I bought this camera in November 2015, and all was well until about 2 months ago when my camera kept on saying "Error press shutter release button" every time I took a picture. I sent it in to Nikon, and they replaced the main PCB board. It took 3 weeks to repair upon receiving it at home, it showed the same error message.
