Awesome!!
I don't think that there is a better DSLR out there for anywhere close to the price, the pics are outstanding! The camera is very well built, I use my D3300 from people to photos of the moon, I recently bought a 55-300mm lens and that has really helped my long range shooting...

Good Camera But Needs Improvement
I purchased this camera a little over a year ago, brand new from my local Walmart store. This is my first Nikon product ever and I purchased it because I heard that Nikon was a good brand. Initially, I was impressed with the product. Camera was easy to set-up with intuitive controls. The camera lens is a good general purpose glass. Pictures are amazing and much better than my previous Canon Powershot non-DSLR camera. I use this Nikon camera daily for eCommerce product photography. However, there are a couple of things that need improvement. The manual white balance setting process is very touchy and oftentimes I get an error messages when trying to take acquire a white photo to use as a reference for the custom white balance. The other problem is that the rubber grip has already started to peel off, as shown in the photo. I take really good care of my camera and literally baby it. I would have expected this $500+ Nikon product to hold up better. My old Canon Powershot actually held up for several years with heavy use, without hardly and wear. If I had to do it all over again, I probably would not purchase this particular camera. I would definitely not recommend this camera to people that need to rely on a daily use camera, as this camera is literally falling part on me within a short period of time. I can probably glue the grip back on but its not the kind of quality I would expected from a renowned brand like Nikon. I'm sticking to Canon as their cameras seem more solid and hold up so much better. Hope this review helps others that may be considering purchasing this camera.

Perfect camera for all occasions

At 70 years of age I'm not new to photography but raising six children over a long span of time did not leave much cash for perusing photography as a hobby. It was do what you can with what you have as needed. My father had given me an Agfa Speedex camera that very basic but a good camera. The cost of film/processing and printing was a real limiting factor. Since the camera was old and the lens was separating the layers it was replaced by point and shoot film cameras. The pictures made nice memories but not the type of photos that I longed for creating. Now I have entered the DSLR age and what a difference. The photos I take are what I always longed to take. Colors are alive and brilliant. The D3300 is easy to use and with the options available to use, good results are guaranteed. In the M mode I can use the old lessons learned and the digital format makes experimenting and learning fun and affordable. I have used this camera for a week and am so pleased with its performance. There is nothing I would change. I have the 18-55mm and the 55-200mm lens. They are a nice combination. The camera has taken some nice bird photos and fall color photos with amazing results. Overall the D3300 has been the right choice for DSLR both as a starting point and use in the long run. It will provide a good long time of more that adequate service. It is proving to be the totally correct decision.

My First DSLR

I have had a point and shoot for several years now, my current one being the Canon S100. I decided it would be time for a DSLR, and I chose Nikon because the rest of my family has Nikon lenses. This DSLR is really nice. Its small and light and it fits in a mirrorless camera camerabag I got so I don't have to lug around one of those big bags. The photos are nice, even at the higher ISOs. I've tried some fancy low light images, light star trails and light portraits, and it works nicely. You can even put the ISO on a high number (like 6400) for the long 30 second shutter speeds.

Excellent Simplicity

There are so many cameras out there, and the D3300 has been a perfect choice for my needs. It is simple in operation, compact, and delivers very high image quality. I most often shoot raw, and enjoy the variety of interpretations possible with both the D3300 in-camera NEF processing, and the supplied ViewNX2 software. Yet anyone in our family's three generations can pick up the D3300 with its excellent, improved 18-55 VR II kit lens and enjoy making quality images in the Auto modes. As a past owner of Nikon's more upscale DSLRs, I enjoy the simpler, lighter and more compact experience of a D3300 in my later years.

Great starter camera

It has everything you need in a great DSLR at a great price. There are a few options I wish the camera had, such as a way to make time-lapses easier to shoot, but it's still great if you're just getting into photography and this is your first DSLR

Wowing!

I have been looking for a good camera with a descent price for a long time. I am extremely happy with this one. It's easy to use, great for beginners.

Amazing pictures, not the best for film.

This camera, is absolutely stellar. Low light performance is great, and the battery life is even better. The only thing I dislike (personally) is that to shoot video, you can ONLY view on the LCD screen, nothing through the viewfinder.

If the lighting is too dark or too bright to accurately measure white balance then the D3300 will display a message to let you know. In these situations please adjust the lighting and try again. Please contact Nikon Support regarding the problem that you have encountered with your grips.

Wrongly specified

This kit comes with the first generation of VR lenses instead of VR II as written in the specifications and shown in the picture. I want my money back!

2. The camera memory varies, depending on the size of the SD/SDHC/SDXC memory that you purchase, so in theory, it has limitless storage.
