My home is on a salt water inlet. I have a piling at the end of my boat lift that had a copper cover that over time got many slits in the edges which made it like a knife if you grabbed the top of the piling. This PVC piling cap fit perfect over my 9" round piling. We hammered the sharp edges in and fit the cap right over the copper cover by drilling three holes in the edge and used stainless steel screws to fasten. Now the piling has a cover that is easy to grab if needed without worry of cutting our hands. I plan to order another one for another piling post.
