Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Little Richard make up the Holy Trinity, as it were, of rock & roll piano. Domino was the most refined of the three, performing a mix of R&B, blues, and New Orleans-style boogie-woogie. On the other hand, Lewis and Richard were consummate showmen. In addition to penning some fabulous songs, these two singer/pianists based much of their reputations on stage antics.

SOLD OUT! captures these artists in a live setting. Unfortunately, there is no concert documentation in the liner notes, so listeners don't know where or when these shows were performed. Regardless, each artist's set sparkles with high-octane rock & roll. Lewis bashes the ivories with complete abandon on his biggest hit, "Great Balls of Fire." In contrast, Domino charms the audience with the groovy R&B-influenced "Ain't That a Shame." But it is Richard who brings down the house with "Good Golly Miss Molly." On this tune, his octave riffs scream overtop the band, and his raspy voice shouts out the lyrics with all the grandeur and largesse of a true rock legend.
