Note metal tube is about 1 1/2 inches wide since its a heavier unit, We use it to cover a good portion of our pool when in ue. We live in Arizzona and honestly at noon and any part of the day the sun is intense and the water very warm. The umbrella lets us use the pool even during the hottest parts of the day. Good price too.
