Ematic Justice League 9" Portable DVD Player (WBPDV9800JL)

Although I don't currently have any children in the age range of the intended target audience for the Ematic Justice League 9" DVD player, my spouse & I are long-time Justice League fans, enjoy watching DVDs on a regular basis, and hope to eventually have grandkids who'll enjoy watching Justice League DVDs with us, so . . . The 9" diagonal screen isn't huge, but certainly adequate for 1 or 2 nearby viewers (which is what it's intended for). Parents will want to read through the manual and confirm that the DVD player works before handing this to their kids; however, the basics should be fairly easy even for non-reading children to pick up (with some initial supervision, of course). One plugs in the micro USB-to-USB cable into the included wall charger and connects the player to a wall outlet to recharge the built-in battery (or operate it via household electric current). One then flicks a switch on the side of the player next to the charging cable to power it on, presses a square just below the Justice League picture on the base of the player to open the DVD tray and insert a disc, closes the DVD tray, and the DVD will automatically load. The controls to the right of the tray use mostly symbols (which should be familiar from the remote control on Mom & Dad's DVD player in the living room) to adjust the volume, navigate on-screen menus, and pause/stop/fast-forward/rewind. You & your kids can play more than just DVDs and CDs on this device, though. If you've downloaded a video or music to a USB flash drive or an SD memory card, there are ports to plug those in and play those on this device. With the addition of an AV cable (not included), you can connect this to a TV (useful in hotels!) or external speakers. Don't want the kids' movie to distract you while you're driving? There are 2 pairs of kid-size headphones included (with Batman and Wonder Woman logos; they'll fit adult heads in a pinch, but are definitely intended for smaller heads), plus a Y-splitter, so both pairs of headphones can be connected to the DVD player at the same time. The included carrying case will hold the DVD player itself, the manual, a couple of DVDs, and possibly the charging cable and Y-splitter, but not the headphones or wall charger -- so you'll want to put any bulky accessories in a separate bag or bags (perhaps each kid's travel daypack, or one of those bags that hangs off the back of the front seat in your car, maybe?). Very practical in situations where one doesn't have easy access to another DVD player (such as hotel rooms, or my home office/craft room (which has a computer with no optical media drive)). The Justice League licensed design may be intended for children, but will appeal to comic-book superhero fans of all ages. Highly recommended!
