Arrived Broken

I was looking forward to using this very pretty salt Cellar but it came broken:( You wouldn't think it would be because it came packaged with a lot of bubble wrap. Nevertheless, Abby at walmart.com was super sweet and helped me with the return.

Coated in a noxious-smelling water-resistant paint

Bought this from a different retailer, but it's the same as shown here. The item was described as cement, with the property that it would absorb moisture. As I unpacked the item it exuded a noxious odor. It smelled like gasoline. The "concrete" item was painted with a water resistant paint that was giving off fumes! I let it sit on my counter for a couple days, still super smelly. I tried washing it with dawn dish soap, still smelly. I would not even think about putting anything edible in this thing! Not only would it not absorb water out of the salt due to the water resistant paint, but I'm afraid it would leach whatever chemicals in it into the salt and make it smell or taste bad. Who knows if it's toxic or not. Made in China. It looks nice though - that's the only positive I can say about it.
