Coming fresh off the heels of his last James Bond film, Die Another Day, Pierce Brosnan returns to the big screen in a way one might not expect aside acclaimed actress Julianne Moore in a rousing, yet surprisingly comedic and entertaining film. At first, I was hesitant to watch or pick up such a film after seeing the negative reviews it recieved, but loved it right away once I got the chance to watch it on TV. Any indication that Pierce played such a suave, British secret agent devoted to Queen and country for the past 7 years is gone, as his character, counselor Daniel Rafferty is just the opposite of that, a lazy, disorganized mess of a person who, visually, even has trouble keeping his shirt clean (or for that matter, his desk too). Although I didn't care too much for Audrey's Mom (Fischer) and her odd comments about her own daughter calling her "Mom" in public, or the characters of Thorne and Serena Jameson, it was still a throughly entertaining film and I especially loved the choice of scenery they used while in Ireland. I also prefer full screen when watching films, so I was also thrilled when I learned that this particular disc was optionally formatted as such.
