It was sturdy but my granddaughter excepts Grammy to join her so I asked my husband to add plywood and wheels on the bottom. The sand stays cool in the shade and we have poured water into the sand to built. Sandcastle. The instructions were illustrations and frustrated my handy husband. I was starting to assemble but he didn't like my lack of speed. I added sand from SC and it's very smooth. The unit closes up nicely but I open and close it so she doesn't strain or catch her fingers. The wood comes out of the box smelling like stain but it disappears quickly. She has all her sand toys and cooking tools in there and it still closes easily.

I was going to attempt to make a sandbox but decided to see what was out there. I ordered this one and hoped for the best. It is well worth the price. My 5 year old nephew and 18 month old grandson have plenty of room to play. The water and weed barrier is excellent quality. We've had lots of rain so the fact it can close up and have the cover move directly on top of it keeps the sand dry.

It's not a box.

Be aware this sand box is not a box. It has no bottom. It has a flimsy piece of fabric to go at the bottom, which doesn't even attach to the sides of the "box." Other than that, it's okay. My kids are enjoying playing in it. Assembly was fine.
