Hello there, we're so sorry to hear the bottom half of your handle finish is flaking. We can imagine how frustrating this would be considering this is never our expectation for consumers. With that said, we'll be happy to share this feedback with our team so that we can make sure this doesn't happen again. If you need to replace your handle, we recommend scheduling service with a certified GE Appliances technician that will be able to accurately diagnose and repair your appliance. You can do so by calling GE Appliance Service at 1-800-GECares (1-800-432-2737) or by clicking here: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm We appreciate you sharing this with us and we're wishing you the absolute best. POOR QUALITY

Already had this part replaced by GE under warranty due to factory defect on the door handle. It is not made of Stainless Steel like the rest of the door. It is silver plastic. This item is their solution which still has the same problem - IT MELTS & BUBBLES FROM THE HEAT FROM THE MICROWAVE AND STOVE BELOW- PIECE OF GARBAGE

Defective Handle- Silver Painted PLASTIC

Garbage! Microwave model PSA1201RSS01, handle is so bubbled and discolored due to the heat from the stove top and the convention/microwave unit itself...it look like I salvaged it from the junk yard. For what I paid for this unit, why isn't the handle stainless steel?? And when can I expect you to send me a replacement door handle? I never even thought to look too see if there was a manufacture's defect! Obviously you test your units and put them through quality control, I suppose the plastic handle over the stove, continually over heat on a daily basis, paint peeling and bubbling off after a bit of time, was a defect you were willing to ignore. NOT HAPPY!!!!

Hey there, we're terribly sorry to hear your handle has began to bubble and discolor. This is never what we want to see from our consumers so we can imagine your disappointment. If your microwave is less than a year old, we recommend taking advantage of your warranty and scheduling service with a certified GE Appliances technician that will be able to accurately diagnose and repair your appliance. You can do so by calling GE Appliance Service at 1-800-GECares (1-800-432-2737) or by clicking here: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm Also, pricing can be dependent on several factors. The economic elements include distribution, warehousing, and marketing costs, which account for a portion of the selling price of the part. Other factors like usability (cosmetic vs. functional) and availability also contribute to pricing. Unfortunately, in some cases, purchasing replacement parts can be less cost effective than replacing the appliance when out of warranty, especially with older appliance or small appliances like microwaves. We hope this is useful information and we're wishing you the best. Guy@GEA
