You would be surprised how difficult it is to find two matching snare drums in two different sizes. We needed a 06" x 13" and an 06" x 14" to match, period. The Pork Pie Little Squealer (chrome over steel shell), was the ONLY brand that offered identical matching snare drums in a convention shell depth of five to six inches deep. The only other snare drums that would provide an exact match would be pancake snares (too shallow for standing "concert" use), or stainless steel shells (too hard to drill holes through to mount internal tone controls). PROS: large, sturdy snare throw-off for relatively clumsy drummers with large hands (like me). CONS: you will probably have to replace the resonant or snare side heads, as you may not be able to get them in tune the first go-around, even with the aid of a Drum Dial tuner. Also, please be aware that the 13" snare has eight tension rod casings, whereas the 14" snare has ten. In sum, pretty decent drums for the price.
