When used as directed, this lawn food product is safe for use around kids and pets. Scotts® Green Max™ Lawn Food can be applied to any grass type. Apply to a dry lawn. We recommend using a Scotts® spreader to apply this product. For Scotts® broadcast/rotary, use a setting of 4 ¼ for the recommended rate or 3 ¾ for the regular rate. For Scotts® drop spreaders, use a setting of 6 ¾ for the recommended rate or 6 for the regular rate. For fast results, lightly water the product in. This fertilizer does exactly what it says. Makes the lawn dark green and I notice it is thicker. I used this product last fall as well. I think a big reason for all the great results is not only the 5 percent iron, but also the 10 percent sulfur. That is real important.
