I own six planes that stanley made back in the day and they work and you can get a Good finish with those.But these new planes are worth every penny. I looked at different styles for months and this plane was right up there in fit and finish .i had the plane shaving tissue paper in minutes after cleaning and adjustments.

I love this plane. It is sure in my hand and moves with a clean feel. I only cleaned off the oil adjusted the iron and started planing. Shavings were already very good. I am going to home the iron for optimum performance.

I had been out to a friends shop to assist him on a built-in bookcase project where I had opportunity to use his plane. It felt wonderful in my hands, cut smooth and cleanly. I went out and purchased one for myself. While my friend is infamous for razor sharp tools, and I know he had sharped his blade, still I was pleasantly surprised how sharp the blade was right out of the box.
