These factors persuaded the need of Ayurvedic drug research in psoriasis. In Kushtha Chikitsa, Charaka has prescribed repeated shodhana karma to cure the disease. Also the better effect of shamana drugs, given after shodhana karma emphasizes the efficacy of Panchakarma.
