First of all, is it an 8" Bass Guitar Speaker or a 'studio sub-woofer? The open E bass guitar string makes it distort. I wanted to replace an 8"stock speaker from an Eden practice amp that could not handle a 6 string bass. This was the only 8" bass guitar speaker I could find. It's a neat looking speaker. very unique. First one I've ever seen like this with no 'cut-out' pieces of the speakers metal chassis. I wondered did I make a mistake. Is this maybe a guitar speaker. Maybe 20 Watts isn't strong enough to push it. Strangely, the 20 W seemed like too much juice. I plugged in a 6 string guitar and hooked in some distortion. Pretty pathetic. I am quite upset with myself for putting the amp back together before testing it, but right now I'm more upset for how much time I wasted for nothing. Right now, this thing is garbage waiting to be tossed, but I'm going to try a few other things with it first. If you're an expert maybe you'd know just what to do with this from the start. I have some years experience and this is the first speaker I've ever seen like this. Any changes and I'll update this, but I'll close by saying, that unless you have a ton of years experience and school, don't waste your money on this speaker. I could find very little background information about it, but went out on the limb and bought it out of desperation for a better speaker for a practice amp that doesn't make the meter outside spin like the blades of a fan and run up my power bill. I've got a 2000 Watt amp and room shaking speaker cabs for that job. I just wanted something small and fairly quiet. this thing has just created a small time wasting noise box out of an amp that was just 'acceptable' for a 4 string bass. good luck, but right now I'd pass on this one if I were you. It was safely, securely, very well packed for shipping and it arrived in a timely manner. very timely. Too bad it's junk.
