Excellent performance!

I've had this for about 6 months now and it has been more than I expected. I use this for both gaming and school. Being in classes that deal with Microsft excel the number pad on the right has been very convenient. When its unplugged the battery lasts long enough for me to get through my classes and then some. When I'm at home and gaming it has been very smooth and efficient with all my games even the heavy graphics usage games. Would have wished for a slightly larger SSD, but that isn't much of a problem really. Also after a while, the fans may start to get a little noisy but compared to my buddies Razer laptop it is still quieter and you can always get a laptop stand to help with the air flow. I often also stream movies from my laptop to my Samsung Smart TV (7 Series) and its a very easy connection and can connect my phone to the laptop, just a few more nifty features. On top of this the design of the laptop I personally like very much. All in all a well thought out laptop for all purposes. Would highly recommend. Great performance without a gamey feel

The Notebook Odyssey lineup from Samsung is a fantastic choice for gamers and power users alike. I purchased this model for the SSD and the GTX 1060 however the diversity of options Samsung offers is fantastic. The performance is stellar and with the fantastic CPU and powerful GPU the gaming experience is excellent. However I would like to caution you with some obvious and not so obvious things that you should know before buying this laptop and a gaming laptop in general. First, if you are buying a gaming laptop, don't expect to get top notch performance anytime anywhere. Like most gaming laptops, the throttling a company applies helps save battery but stunts your performance. This laptop is no different. If Samsung didn't throttle it, you'd be whining about the battery running out so soon. A GPU is a power hungry beast, and I'm glad Samsung acknowledged it. This issue can be remedied by simply plugging in the laptop to get the desktop performance. Second, this is not the best value to performance laptop out there. Now you are probably wondering - is there a better option out there? Unfortunately no. The included 16gb of RAM and the GTX 1060 combine to drive up the price to the heavy $1,600. Why aren't I complaining much though? Because most other companies cut corners when including something like a GTX 1060 and give you 8gb of RAM or a smaller hard drive. Bumping up to a GTX 1070 isn't really an option unless you're willing to spend $2,000+ or again spend less and have corners cut. Gaming laptops will always be expensive. As expensive as this laptop is, the value is decent. If you're looking for a great value gaming rig, a laptop isn't the place to go. If you want a laptop that doubles as a gaming rig, this is probably the one to go with The only real complaint about the value I have is the somewhat small SSD. A 256gb SSD would have been nice, and that was even included in the current white version of the Notebook Odyssey. Especially when spending $1,600 it's nice to have bonuses like that. As for the features, a brighter screen could have been included. Most cases it is fine for me however I consistently find myself using it on around 75% brightness. I don't really use it much outdoors but when the sun comes in the window and shines on the screen it can make it a little hard to see with full brightness on. The brightness isn't an issue however it is something to keep in mind. Accessibility into the laptop isn't as easy as you might imagine it to be either. Just as a warning, the bottom needs a pry tool to remove it, it's held in place by little clips. To wrap up this mess this is a great product for what it is - a gaming laptop. Under that category you're really not going to be able to find a much better value. It has some nidpickey stuff here and there but as a whole it is a very solid gaming laptop that I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to buy one.
