If I could get the "transparent" film off...

The item does not come pre-assembled. It has to be assembled, but "to prevent scratches" all the sides are covered in transparent film. Problem is, this film is impossible to get off. There's no little tag you can latch on to pull the film off the acrylic. There are little protrusions and slots into which each of the three sides fits, but even these don't provide a purchase to get a hold of the film to rip it off. It's shipped flat, and wrapped in plastic, so there was no chance of scratches anyway. Very frustrating.
