A Treasure of a Book

This book covers it all, and then some. From basic equipment to the proper mindset and legal considerations, Mr. Chaplan lays out what the world of metal detecting encompasses. I especially like the considerations of relics and the artifacts and ways of ancient cultures. Also, study of the lay of the land and historical documents, and even talking to "old hands" and senior citizens living near a site, help the new detectorist plan a search and get beyond what might occur with a haphazard, short hit and miss sweep through an area. The resources at the back of the book also contain a wealth of information for the new or experienced metal detector/treasure hunter. Highly-recommended.

Interesting.

It's very interesting reading if you are new into this kind of hobby. Although the writer and book are based on the United States of America , it's doubtful that all the tips and info can be put to use due to the strict and severe laws concerning the search and find of old relics and/or metal detecting in every state. What works for one area does not for other. I specially liked the information regarding the tips for old relic clean up and how to find the prover exchange rate for trading or selling your valuables.
