(12 pack) La Costeña Canned Refried Black Beans, 20.5 oz

I normally dont comment on the usability of a food. Face it, if your looking, then you likely already know how you plan to use it. Telling people this goes good in that is a waste of time... Usually LOL Refried black beans may be one of the most underrated food of which I became aware. I experimented with a 30 vegan diet challenge and actually made it 90 days (hated it by the way). Refried black beans was one reasons I was able to go so long. It is an awesome vegan substitute of red meat. 100% no... it doesn't taste like it. However, it does season like it. I discovered that it can be heavily season with taco flavoring to make good tacos and burritos with minimal missing of hamburger. It is also decent in chili to give a vegan version a hearty flavor. I left vegan life behind pretty quickly, but I have kept the refried black beans in my life. Now, when I make tacos or burritos, I mix a can of this in with the hamburger to make it heartier more filling, go farther and it still tastes just as good. I also use it to thicken my chili! Now, I do make chili with beans, so I do not know how hidden the flavor would be in non-bean versions. However, if mixed in while the chili is still soupy is thickens easily and mixes in becoming 100% hidden in the flavors of the chili sauce. It is a great way to kick up both protein and fiber in any dish where it might be used. It can be hidden in heavily seasoned ground meats for a multitude of benefits.
