Penn Fathom Low Profile Reel

I have just purchased this reel and upon receiving it I opened up the box and just admired this work of craftmanship.I got the 200 because I needed a left handed reel.I have fished Penn reels and rods for over 50 years.I was looking for a Stealhead and Salmon reel and this model really impressed me very much.But as for a review? well I just got this new reel haven`t even fished it yet.But soon,I am up here in southeast Alaska and the Stealhead season is very soon.I am sure this reel will do me some great angling experience,also I wish Penn would make a rod of Stealhead weight to match this reel.Happy oh yes I am , Thank You Penn for an outstanding product!

Very Nice and Solid

This review is for the 400LH. I've only used it once but have been very pleased. Casting is very smooth and I'm getting great distance. Drag is flawless. Reel is a bit heavier than the competition because of metal parts, but I'll opt for that over plastic composites anytime. Handle is comfortable. This model was big enough to replace the 400 size round reels I typically use for stripers. Tuning is simple and effective to avoid backlash. Spool release button is solid and crisp. My only complaint is that the levelwind does not engage while casting. However it does when drag is being taken. I'm thinking that the levelwind guide is far enough away from the spool that this won't impact casting distance, and perhaps by design.
