AWESOME D'ONOFRIO

I bought this DVD because of Vincent D'Onofrio's involvement and a little research into the subject. I was surprised to find an exceptional story with superb acting. Rene's signature pouty mouth was rarely seen and easier to ignore than usual and VDO as always imbues his character with depth and passion. Based on "One Who Walked Alone" by Novalyne Price, this story examines the relationship between the author and "The Best Pulp Writer in the Whole Wide World" Robert E. Howard (Creator of Conan the Barbarian). Ms. Price (angered by the literary world's focus on Howards' eccentricities and probable mental disorder) wrote the book in order to show the side of Howard that she remembered. Their ill-fated romance and Howard's subsequent suicide is handled with respect and care. Also definitely in the running for "Best Screen Kiss Ever." (check it out on YouTube if you want proof)

great movie loyal to the book

I really like this movie, because they stayed loyal to the book. This came out before Jerry Mcguire and you know Renee is going to be a star. Heard they were on a tight budget for this movie, so if I had any complaint about the movie , I would wish they could tell a little more of the story about Robert E Howard and Novalyne Price, fascinating story and times.

Worth Watching

I watched this movie in the beginning only for my fascination with Vincent D'Onofrio's ability to capture whatever character he portrays. But after watching, I was pleasantly surprised in the overall story. It is a well acted movie all around and the story will stay with you long after the movie has ended. The only downfall that I found, was that in some areas, the back story wasn't clearly understood. I am sure, however, that if I were to have read the book that the movie is based on first, I would've understood every aspect more clearly. This movie was definately enjoyable and I would recommend it to anyone. Especially those people that are Vincent D'Onofrio fans. His performance does not disappoint. You will also enjoy the 'spunkiness' of Renee' Zelleweger's character.
