Perfect

Incredibly solid clamp lite. Large 9.5" inch head has standard 100W incandescent bulb socket plus standard T22 circular flourescent bulb socket. Separate power switches for both on top. This gives a wide range of lighting type possibilities. Even the head's handrail is nicely padded. If you're looking to steer clear of LED nightmares this is your light!

Great lights!

We use two of these on each of our production tables. We have about 20 of them throughout our offices and all of them have worked great since day one. They're sturdy, and they stay in position. They have the 22w fluorescent ring bulb included, and we put 100w fluorescent bulbs in them. The outlet on the base is a great addition as well. We'll continue buying these as our business grows.

Professional Quality Lamp

I had gotten a full-sized drafting table and my lighting situation was poor at best. So I needed a lamp that was clamp mounted, that could work at an angle, and had enough of a range to cover the surface of rather large work area. Some research on the web suggested that this was a good choice and the price at Sams was quite a bit lower than anywhere else. So I ordered and got the lamp 3 days later. The thing that will strike you at first is how big the lamp head is... It is about 9.5" in diameter and has a fluorescent bulb running around the interior of the lamp, circling a normal light bulb. The arm has steady spring suspension and glides that lamp around fairly effortlessly. The lamp has a handle on the head to help you move it about. The range on it is tremendous - I can move the lamp over the entire surface of a large drafting table. And the lamp can generally be positioned several feet above the work surface, so it should not get in your line of vision. The included clamp is very solid. It has a very heavy plastic mount, a clamp to hold it to the desk, and a small set-screw to make sure that you don't accidently pull the lamp out of the mount. All in all the lamp feels very stable as a result. Finally, there is the issue of light - the real reason you are looking at this product. I had questioned the need for a dual source of lighting, but here is the rub... A normal light bulb produces a fairly yellowish light, while a fluorescent bulb produces a very bluish light. When the two lights are combined, the resulting light is a neutral, more natural looking white light. I work with watercolors quite a bit and it is just awesome to have a light source that helps me see my colors in a better fashion. I am extremely happy with this lamp. My only worry is that it might be hard to replace the fluorescent bulb once it is done.
