Won't fit

I ordered transmission shift lever bushings for my '83 Mercedes 380SL. There was only one choice. The bushings arrived in good order but they will not fit. The cost of return shipping exceeds the cost of the bushings so I decided to just keep them. I discovered that I have a Euro model and the bushings are different so I purchased from a different site using the actual dimensions of the old bushings.
