This Gas Range Igniter ignites the gas for the oven burner. It's wired in series with the safety gas valve for the oven. The safety gas valve won't open unless it detects that the igniter is hot enough to light the burner gas. If your range won't turn on, there's little to no heat when baking, or the igniter glows and won't light, replacing it may alleviate these issues. When installing the part, make sure not to touch the new carbide electrode - oil from your fingers may damage the part. Installing this part will require specialized tools, complicated disassembly of the oven and prior repair experience.
