First off this is not a raised plant bed. It is a frame. Do not but, if you're looking for a raised plant bed. It has no bottom and one bar in the middle. You have to assent everything. Each piece is about 6-8 inches wide. 4 pieces for the longer side, 2 for the shorter side, and 4 corner connectors. It's about 13 inches in depth. I don't know and that 1 in the 4x2x1 description. Sits flat on the ground. Again, there is no bottom. I went to Home Depot and bought plywood. They cut it to my measurements and it fits perfectly inside on top of the bar that I decided to adjust as well. With the bar at the recommended level that gives depth 10 inches. So I lowered it to get 11.5 inches of depth. The other one I'm using as a frame and installed it's one bar on the one I bought the plywood for. So I made it work. It is beautiful. I hate dishonesty businesses. However the price was too good to be true. lol. But I only paid $10 bucks for the plywood and I still saved money. Do I recommend this, no. Run. Run far away. If you need a frame for your garden. Then this is fine. I have iguanas in my neighborhood so I have to put my vegetables in mesh tent like. I made it work. I would definitely look elsewhere. I made it work because I was not going to let the time I spent assembling this thing piece by piece go to waste. Oh and the package they sent had to been a return. Someone, probably put it together saw what I saw and returned it. Me, nope not wasting my time it's too precious and valuable to throw away.
