Mr. Deane is no stranger to the 21st century. He is not intimidated by contemporary themes, although his greatest delight, and perhaps his greatest achievement in verse is evidently poetry that is set in medieval times, notably his epic work, The Monastic Adventures of Polonius. This inspired work may strike the reader with its comic ambiance, its jovial jeering, and its ribald implications.
