The first thing to do after unpacking this item is to place the 4 ice blocks in your freezer. Unpacking and assembly is as simple as it gets. So easy, it doesn't relay the assembly info so here is what you do. Unscrew the open lid from the bottom, connect the two bottom sides together, slide the connected bottom sides through the cord, slide the lid thru the cord, screw the lid back on. Take note there is a notch on one of the bottom sides so you can run the cord thru it. It looks very nice and the remote is wonderful. There is 3 fan speeds. You can use this item without the ice packs and water if you want to. I turned it on and it is quiet, gets a fraction louder with speed 2 and then speed 3. Hence low medium high. It also has a timer button and you can program it up to 12 hours. The Mode button allows you to select normal and nature modes. Groovy! The swing button works great and the fan will move slowly back and forth to sweep the room with cool air. You can press the cool button to turn on the humidification or turn it off. For the Cool mode, you need to have the water in the tank. It has a pump and the water much be over the pump, totally submerged. You then have the option to place a couple of the ice packs in and also, you can even place ice! These instructions are in the included booklet and very thorough with text and diagrams. I don't have a single negative to say about it. Presently, I have it located in my living room so that when I am sitting in there, watching tv, I can stay cool. I have an open liv room, din room, kitchen and the swing setting is going to very useful. As utility fees continue to rise, I know this item is going to save me money. Plus, it looks very nice!
