This is my favorite fishing lure for catching bass. Although it is more expensive than some other lures, I think it is worth it since this lure actually catches fish. In my experience, since it is a relatively large lure, the pickerel don't tend to bite as much as the bass do since the bass generally have larger mouths. I think the jointed action is the main benefit since it allows for many types of retrieval, even including trolling behind a kayak/rowboat. Overall, I really like this lure, and I decided to buy this same lure again after a big bass broke off my first lure.
