I consider myself a bit of a computer connoisseur. I've loved computers since Windows 95 but switched to Chromebooks after Windows 8 released. While I occasionally miss having an optical drive (CD's and DVD's) and built-in games like solitaire and free cell (you can get these in Chrome or Android apps) - I can't imagine using anything but a Chromebook now. I personally prefer a bigger screen so was over-the-moon to see that HP finally released one with a 15.6" screen. The specs on this are phenomenal as well. What has impressed me the most is the backlit keyboard (see photos) - there is a bluish light that emanates from underneath each key and will dim after 30 seconds but will re-light when you touch the mouse or touchpad. I'm also impressed by the processor speed and amount of storage. The screen is standard, meaning it is not a matte finish (so you have to deal with a little bit of reflection). The glamour comes from it's white ceramic lid and cloud blue keyboard. The numeric pad is quite the bonus as well. Oh, and let's not forget the touchscreen. There is no HDMI port. There are 2 Type C USB power ports, one on each side (this is a really nice feature to have when cord placement matters), a headphone jack and one USB port (I use it for my wireless mouse but would have to remove the dongle if I wanted to plug in a flash drive to retrieve files). I highly recommend this Chromebook. It's got a name you can trust, a screen size that won't cause eyestrain, and more bells and whistles than you can shake a stick at! It's worth every penny! Of a special note, if you are looking to buy a Chromebook now....this is the one you want. Most people aren't aware that Chromebooks have an Auto Update Expiration date - meaning that the device eventually will not be getting any updates but will still be usable. As best I can tell, this model's AUE is at minimum June 2024 (it is possible it will update into 2025) - so the money you pay today will give you over 5 years of updates.
