Misleading
This lock is a Dexter lock, wrongly advertised as a Schlage lock. The plastic packing bubble states: DEXTER by Schlage. Schlage purchased Dexter, however this does not make a Dexter lock a Schlage lock. A Schlage lock has the brand "Schlage" embossed above the cylinder. Dexter has no markings. Schlage locks have a lifetime warranty on the finish in residential applications. For Dexter locks it's five years. See the Schlage website for more details and differences. Schlage sells the Dexter locks at much lower price than the Schlage branded products. Because there is a difference. I returned this item and went to my favorite home improvement center to purchase Schlage locks.
