The quality on this light fixture is superb; it's a lovely light-gold brass finish and tilts far enough where you don't see the bulbs inside unless you're really standing at a 90-degree angle to the portrait it's mounted on. As for lighting, it can be dim or extremely bright; we bought a Lutron dimmer and with that, you can use a high-wattage LED bulb (which uses way LESS watts than a standard bulb) to give your art a lot of light or a little. Finally, hide the cord! If you're going to mount this over a buffet, cabinet, headboard or anything, just buy a cheap wall saw, make a hole in the drywall behind the painting and directly below it (but BEHIND the furniture placed below the art, haha). This way, you can run the cord for the light down and use an extension if needed for a really gorgeous mounting. Finally, this light's bracket easily screwed into our painting frame and then can slide in or out of it so you don't really have to budge the art much when messing with it.
