From over the years of having various numbers of cats living at home and scooping lots of poop, I have learned that fresh step extreme in my opinion seems to be the best cat litter for odor control in smaller spaces, ease of scooping, and leaving the least mess when it comes to pesky granules. There is some dust when poured, but when you use the small packages, it’s is not too horribly bad. There isn’t much, and it settles quickly. I never notice any left on the cats once they’ve “been to the loo”. The litter can be cleaned from the bottom of the pan fairly easily, especially if you are creative. The cat I have now is long-haired with picky paws. She does not like the silicone cat litter (such as the kind needed for automated litter boxes) at all nor did she appreciate anything involving yesterday's news or pine shavings or pellets(?) or other recycled brands of non-clumping cat litter that might feel funky or leave something grimy on the bottom of her sensitive feet. Fresh Step Extreme cat litter, leaves little mess, and the bundle of smaller-sized packs means it’s easier on your spine and joints and lungs and sinuses when it’s litter replacement time. Less tracking, less scooping, less dust, less goop, less cleaning, less “accidents” means more wins! (Plus, there is a loyalty club too if you’re not scared to give your info.)

I have 5 cats. I have tried many different litter brands and I, always, return to Fresh Step. It is has lower dust than other brands, and I do not notice an odor with use with multiple cats. I buy the 38 lb quantity with the 4 bags. It is easier for me to use the smaller bags - much more convenient; I can handle this better than a big box.
