Zojirushi SM-VH60GM GoCafe Insulated Mug 20oz/0.60L

I gave this mug 5 Stars because it is a 5 Star mug. Until recently, every morning I measured16 oz. of water and brewed freshly ground coffee in my Zojirushi EC-DAC50, added a splash of cream to a tall pottery mug and poured the 16 oz. of brew into the mug. I'm retired so for me most days start slowly and then taper off, which means I spend most of every morning occasionally sipping from the mug rather than gulping a cup on the way out the door. But the pottery mug seemed to require constant warming in the microwave. My solution was to borrow an insulated mug from my daughter. Her mug is a major brand mug made by a company that makes lots of insulated things, large and small. That insulated mug is about 7 inches tall, about 3 1/2 inches in diameter, and its empty weight on my kitchen scale was 381 grams or 13 3/8 oz. The borrowed mug was sufficient for my needs and thus served as a "proof of concept" for me. But it seemed bulky plus it was borrowed and I coveted my own mug. Based upon my experience with my coffee maker and some ratings by organizations I have come to trust, I searched the Zojirushi offerings and liked what I read about the GoCafe SM-VH60 so I ordered the 20 oz. GoCafe. My new GoCafe is 9 1/4 inches tall, about 3 inches in diameter, and its empty weight on my kitchen scale was 255 grams or 8 7/8 oz. It is my subjective opinion that the GoCafe keeps my coffee hotter longer than the "other" insulated mug. Plus, being lighter it's easier to handle. The "other" mug does fit a car cup holder better because of its size. If I use my GoCafe in the car more, I'll likely get a foam can holder just to keep the GoCafe from rattling in the car cup holder. If I were carrying the mug to work in a bag, sack, purse, back pack or satchel I'd definitely want the 20 oz. GoCafe because of its weight and size and its outstanding ability to retain heat. That's like a Grande with room to spare at your finger tips!

The absolute best travel thermos I have used. Keeps hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold for hours. Super easy to clean, too. And you can open and close it easily one-handed so it's also accessible.
