ABOUT THE BOOK AND AUTHOR

Northanger Abbey was written by English novelist Jane Austen (1775-1817) and was first published in 1818.

This novel is a famous satire of Gothic novels. A coming of age story, the novel revolves around a young and naive Catherine Morland on her journey to a better understanding of the world and those around her.

Jane Austen was the author of six well known novels including Sense and Sensibility (1811), Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Park (1814), Emma (1815), Northanger Abbey (1818) and Persuasion (1818). She also wrote Lady Susan (1871) and Love and Freindship and other Early Works (1790).
