This shovel is made of manganese steel, which is of much higher quality than any similar product produced in the USA. The steel in this shovel will never wear out. It did not come with a handle, which was inconvenient, but I had a spare handle from my last shovel, made of plastic that shattered due to the cold. To attach that handle, I tried to drill the attaching holes in the shovel a little bit larger, but the manganese steel is so hard that no drill I had would work. US manufactures have reason to fear Chinese products. Many Chinese products are becoming so superior in quality and price that US-made products don't compete.
