The canister lid ensures a watertight seal and can be lifted up for easy removal. A quick prime button fills the filter chamber with water for self-priming system startup. Stack N’ Flo™ Filter Trays force water to flow through media layers that provide mechanical, chemical and biological filtration. Other parts of the canister filter include intake/outlet U-tubes, strainer, elbow & diffuser, suction cups and vinyl tubing. The Bio-Filter Balls and ceramic filter rings provide a large, multi-faceted surface area for the growth of Bio-Spira® bacteria and the beneficial ammonia-neutralizing bacteria responsible for biological filtration. Inside the carbon bag, Black Diamond® Premium Activated Carbon removes odors, discoloration and water impurities for chemical filtration. The Rite-Size™ T filter foam pads screen out dirt and debris for mechanical filtration while enhancing biological filtration.
