Oxicams such as tenoxicam, lornoxicam and meloxicam and sulphonanilides like nimesulide are widely used as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and are available in a variety of pharmaceutical formulations as tablets, capsules, ampoules, vials and gels. Due to wide application of these drugs and use, there is still need for new, rapid, simple, accurate, sensitive and inexpensive analytical assays to be applied to typical formulations of these drugs during industrial process, development and scale up production and this was the aim of this research. The developed spectrophotometeric and spectrofluorimetric methods were simple, sensitive, rapid, convenient and economical and successfully applied for routine analysis of these drugs in both pure and pharmaceutical dosage forms. In addition this research guides the students in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry to the steps of drug analysis (optimization, validation and application).
