These early Cuirasses were plate armor constructed from bronze. When the Romans came to power they adopted the greek style of Cuirass for their soldiers. Further along in Rome's history the Cuirass was reserved only for the officers. As the power of the Empire grew the Cuirass became more ornate with animals, stories and mythological deities decorating the armor. Interestingly no original Cuirasses have been recovered from this time period. Although, there have been Greek Hoplite Cuirasses that have been recovered from the 4th century BC. This is a Spartan 20 Gauge Steel Muscle Plate Cuirass. It is made of steel with black finish.
-The Cuirass is constructed of 20 gauge steel with a black finish.-There are six geniune leather straps that secure the Cuirass. Each strap is adjustable with belt buckles. -The Cuirass can fit most adults. Item comes covered in oil to prevent oxidation. Regular cleaning and maintenance necessary to prevent rusting. |
