Griddle section stays clean. I have used it 6 times in the last month for 4 to 6 waffles each day. Easy to wipe the outer surfaces after it cools. "Best feature is the top snaps closed by a clip under the handle." This keeps the top from moving up when the batter starts baking an expanding. I would have to place something heavy over my old waffle maker to keep it closed. I wait until the green light turns on, then add the batter (enough to cover all but the last 1/2 inch near the outer edge) let it bake until no more steaming then wait until the green light comes on again. (the green light goes on and off as it reaches the set temperature) You can lift the top plate to check the 'doneness' and close it again if it is not tanned enough. The power cord is just long enough to used on a standard counter top.

Great value on this lil belgin waffle maker. We needed a new one, our old one broke. this one stores on the counter on its side space saver. Cooked our waffles perfect just under 5 min ea. we make about 12 so we can feeze them and toast them conviently later. clean up was so easy, used a damp dish cloth placed on griddle, steamed 1 min, then wiped out with paper towel.
