Works as described. Most of the track pieces are pre connected into circles (see pictures) and it is not easy to separate them when first setting up the track. To separate the track pieces they need to be twisted NOT pulled (see pictures). The train is rechargeable, there is no need to purchase batteries. We will see how long the gear driving the train will last, it is now too early to know.

I love the train set itself. What I dislike about it is you have certain pieces that do not come in the track. You have to order another whole track to get one piece to continue building the track. You can't just order the pieces you need to continue the track. You can't even build the design that they put inside the track unless you order a different track. I wouldn't recommend it unless you were willing to buy all of the tracks and sometimes to of the same track.

It's too hard for a 4 year old to put together and we were missing 4 pieces, so our train can only go in a circle. I would not recommend this product . It was expensive and is not a very good quality
