I had a pair of Etnies with good leather on top but thinning rubber on the sole. Shoe Goo and a pair of these puppies and I'm good to skate those shoes for another 6 months. The material is slip- and abrasion-resistant to the extent you could expect of the average outsole. The tread design is perfect for skate shoes and walking on hard paved surfaces. There's enough groove to displace water underfoot, and the extensive surface contact and the diagonal feathering of contact patches make for slip-free control and a smooth toe-off. Pro tips: Glue the intact outsole to the shoe. Cut once you're absolutely, positively finished with the gluing step. Use a sheetrock knife or box cutter. Make sure the blade is new and sharp to avoid using too much force and either damaging the work piece or injuring yourself. I haven't tried this, but a handheld router or other rotary tool with a rounding bit would probably be ideal for a nice finished edge to the new outsole. Probably have to move quickly to avoid burning the rubber, though.
