i used YouTube to figure out how to replace them. pretty easy once you get the idea. you only need a flathead screwdriver and someone or something to hold your trunk up. putting these on made me realize how loose and bad my previous ones were. great buy!

Does the job for a decent price.

Bought this for my 2012 VW Standard Beetle. My original lifters did not hold up my hatch anymore. These take a while to break it, are very strong and hard to close the hatch the first couple times but at least it holds it open which I prefer to it closing on my head (its like 60lbs, soo heavy). I am sure more expensive ones would work better, but for the price these are great! Would recommend, super easy install took less than 5 minutes.
